ARTCURATOR.RU gallery will take part at Slick Brussels, art fair for contemporary art. The venue will take place from 18-22 of April at Wild gallery space. On the gallerie's booth will be shown artworks by Spanish artist Xevi Vilaró and Belorussia Mikhail Gulin.
In his art Mikhail Gulin investigate the phenomena of global contemporary art. Artist works with ready-made images, that he founds from TV sets, Internet, books and other sources. After putting in the new context this images completely different meaning. Gulin's art is an irony, some times rude but every time honest. This is an attempt to catch some one with the goods. On the display will be shown the video art – action “I’m not a…” half an hour length performance, mixed from several parts “I’m not a gay”, “I’m not a Jewish”, “I’m not a Niger” and “I don’t agree”. The whole series was born as an idea to make an action « I'm not a policeman» , but the artist decided not to stop by only reflecting the politic situation in his country. So the project was realised not only like a provocation but also like study of contemporary phobias.
Other part of exposition will show the project by Xevi Vilaró, “don’t lick your wounds”. This project is made on methacrylate, showing oppressed citizens, who are able to speak without words, they remain without basic rights, as education, health care, in some cases they exist even without food. Government and rich class becoming richer, while poor people becoming poorer. But people have to show their dignity, they have to rise against, not just sit on the ground licking their wounds.
